Moose Jaw Crane Operator Classes - Crane operator training is for operators and supervisors of overhead lifting equipment. The course is suitable for both current and new operators. Course content deals with relevant federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The training's first component consists of comprehensive in-class instruction and test. After that is a customized hands-on session together with practical instruction and evaluation.

The content of the course applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting crane machines. The instruction will particularly focus on all aspects of crane operation that can be done at the trainee's workplace. Upon completing the course, people training will learn how to operate specific overhead lifting equipment, related components and attachments in an efficient and safe manner.

The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator could develop while operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment can be prevented with correct practices. Training lessens the likelihood of a workplace injury or incident taking place.

The duration of the course is eight hours of classroom instruction followed by a few hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants would be graded on their understanding of training material through an assessment of their practical knowledge and written tests. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.

In the in-class session, participants will be taught applicable causes of damages and occurrences, legislation and guidelines, danger awareness, internal responsibility, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, basic equipment and design principles, pre-shift equipment checks, safe hoisting/operating methods, equipment applications/rigging, kinds of hardware, hitches and angles, pedestrian/operator safety, hand signals for operators and slingers, flipping/turning loads safely.

The practical training and evaluation part of the course must be pre-scheduled. This customized part of the training would be held at the trainees' facility. The length of this practical training component is an hour or two. The instructor would train two operators at a time about skills like correct rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.

Upon completion of the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write a test. Signed safety rules will be needed from each and every participant. Successful trainees would be provided with individual wallet certificates. A framed wall certificate would be provided to the company.
